Notes: Claude extra usage is billed at API rates. Sonnet 5's US$2 in / US$10 out launched as introductory pricing through 31 August 2026; Anthropic has confirmed it is now the standard price and the rise to US$3 / US$15 did not happen on 1 September 2026. Claude Fable 5.1 has since appeared at the same US$10 / US$50 rates, so the Claude figures hold either way. OpenAI publishes credit rates per token but still no official dollars-per-credit figure; the ~US$0.04 used here is an estimate drawn from third-party reporting on token-credit pricing - check your own workspace billing page before you rely on it. OpenAI has folded the Codex rate card into the main ChatGPT rate card, and GPT‑5.6 no longer matches the older models: Sol is 100 / 10 / 500 credits per 1M read / cached / written and Terra is 50 / 5 / 300, against GPT‑5.5 at 125 / 12.50 / 750 and GPT‑5.4 at 62.50 / 6.25 / 375. A newer top model, GPT‑6 Astra, is now on the rate card at 250 / 25 / 1,250 - about 2.5 times Sol - so treat the ChatGPT figures as a floor if your workspace has switched to it. Sol's rate is promotional and holds at least until 21 November 2026, so it is worth re-checking before then. GPT‑5.4 and 5.4 mini retired in Codex on 31 August 2026; Terra and Luna replace them. ChatGPT for Excel, ChatGPT for PowerPoint and Workspace Agents all bill at the GPT‑5.6 rate. Microsoft Copilot Credits are US$0.01 each pay-as-you-go, and Microsoft revised its Cowork planning bands in September 2026 to light 100-300, medium 300-700 and heavy over 700 credits - the Copilot curve here has been retuned to match. Ranges are deliberately wide: the same agent job can vary several-fold between runs.
